Zersenay Tadese - Personal Life

Personal Life

A quietly spoken athlete, he frequently states that his victories are a tribute to his country. Eritrea is one of Africa's newest and less populous countries, and Zersenay's achievements on the world athletics stage have made him one of the country's most identifiable sportsmen. He is a popular public figure in his home country; 2500 guests attended his wedding to Merhawit Solomon, which was broadcast live on Eritrean television. His brother, Kidane Tadese, is also a professional distance runner who has competed at the World Cross Country Championships and the 2008 Summer Olympics.

Famous quotes containing the words personal and/or life:

What stunned me was the regular assertion that feminists were “anti-family.” . . . It was motherhood that got me into the movement in the first place. I became an activist after recognizing how excruciatingly personal the political was to me and my sons. It was the women’s movement that put self-esteem back into “just a housewife,” rescuing our intelligence from the junk pile of “instinct” and making it human, deliberate, powerful.
    Mary Kay Blakely (20th century)

We can have in life but one great experience at best, and the secret of life is to reproduce that experience as often as possible.
    Oscar Wilde (1854–1900)
