A friend, Jeffrey Pittle, created a website for people to donate money to help with her medical bills and help with transportation costs. The website raised 56% of the $25,000 needed. Famous quotes containing the word death:

No man is an island entire of itself; every man is a piece of the Continent, a part of the main.... Any man’s death diminishes me because I am involved in Mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.
    John Donne (c. 1572–1631)

For ‘tis not in mere death that men die most.
    Elizabeth Barrett Browning (1806–1861)

The techniques of opening conversation are universal. I knew long ago and rediscovered that the best way to attract attention, help, and conversation is to be lost. A man who seeing his mother starving to death on a path kicks her in the stomach to clear the way, will cheerfully devote several hours of his time giving wrong directions to a total stranger who claims to be lost.
    John Steinbeck (1902–1968)
