"You Learn" is a song by Canadian recording artist and songwriter Alanis Morissette from her 1995 breakthrough album Jagged Little Pill. The song was written by Morissette and Glen Ballard. A line from the song is the source of the album title, Jagged Little Pill.
"You Learn" is a midtempo pop rock song which also features elements of an alternative rock style. The song speaks of the importance of poor decision making in life by explaining that these decisions can teach valuable lessons. "You Learn" received generally positive reviews from music critics, as many critics praised the lyrics and thought it was a standout of the album. In the United States the track peaked at number one on Billboard's Hot 100 Airplay chart for five weeks. After its radio airplay had started to decline, "You Learn" was released as a retail single and debuted and peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100, and number one on the Billboard Pop Songs chart. It also peaked at number twenty in Australia and number thirteen in New Zealand.
Because the CD single includes a live version of "You Oughta Know" from the 1996 Grammy Awards as an A-side, Billboard credited the chart position to "You Learn"/"You Oughta Know". An acoustic version of the song from Morissette's live album Alanis Unplugged (1999) was released as a single in some countries in 2000. Another acoustic version was recorded for the album Jagged Little Pill Acoustic (2005).

Famous quotes containing the word learn:
“At first I intended to become a student of the Senate rules and I did learn much about them, but I soon found that the Senate had but one fixed rule, subject to exceptions of course, which was to the effect that the Senate would do anything it wanted to do whenever it wanted to do it.”
