History
According to archaeological research, the Taiwan region has been inhabited since 20,000 to 30,000 years ago. Primitive settlements first appeared in the Yilan region 3,000 to 4,000 years ago. Later, the ancestors of the Kavalan people drifted to Taiwan by sea. The Kavalan people, and the Atayal people in the mountain regions, engaged in farming, fishing and hunting.
