Media

The World Values Survey data has been used in thousands of scholarly publications and the findings have been reported in media such as Time, Newsweek, The New York Times, The Guardian, Discover Magazine, China Dialogue, CNN, The Economist, the World Development Report and the Human Development Report of the United Nations.

In 2011, the WVS results on democracy helped many reporters understand the cultural motivations behind the revolts around the Arab world.

Famous quotes containing the word media:

Few white citizens are acquainted with blacks other than those projected by the media and the so—called educational system, which is nothing more than a system of rewards and punishments based upon one’s ability to pledge loyalty oaths to Anglo culture. The media and the “educational system” are the prime sources of racism in the United States.
    Ishmael Reed (b. 1938)

The media transforms the great silence of things into its opposite. Formerly constituting a secret, the real now talks constantly. News reports, information, statistics, and surveys are everywhere.
    Michel de Certeau (1925–1986)

The media have just buried the last yuppie, a pathetic creature who had not heard the news that the great pendulum of public conciousness has just swung from Greed to Compassion and from Tex-Mex to meatballs.
    Barbara Ehrenreich (b. 1941)
