Wieringen

Wieringen is a former municipality in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. It consisted of a former island, also named Wieringen, which has been joined to the mainland since 1924. There are plans to make Wieringen an island again by widening the Amsteldiepkanaal into a lake called the Wieringerrandmeer. Since 2012 Wieringen has been part of the new municipality of Hollands Kroon.
