Tubridy

Tubridy

Tubridy (Gaelic: Ó Tiobraide, original forms include Latin: Tipraiti and Tipraite ) is an Irish surname in Anglicised form, found most prominently in County Clare, Ireland. The Tubridys of Clare originated as scribes, as a sept of the Dalcassian Clan. The name means "descendant of Tiobraide", with the Gaelic language word tiobraid meaning "a well". The name is not very common unlike many surnames of Irish origin, also because of its somewhat obscure origins and how the name has developed over time between different languages.
