Real Projective Plane - The Flat Projective Plane

The Flat Projective Plane

In the projective plane P2, a point x is represented by the homogeneous coordinate (x1, x2, x3). If we think of (x1, x2, x3) as a point in real space R3 with the third value of the homogeneous coordinate as a value in the z direction, then P2 can be visualized as R3.

Famous quotes containing the words flat and/or plane:

Ask a toad what beauty is, the supreme beauty, the to kalon. He will tell you it is his lady toad with her two big round eyes coming out of her little head, her large flat snout, yellow belly, brown back.
    Voltaire [François Marie Arouet] (1694–1778)

Even though I had let them choose their own socks since babyhood, I was only beginning to learn to trust their adult judgment.. . . I had a sensation very much like the moment in an airplane when you realize that even if you stop holding the plane up by gripping the arms of your seat until your knuckles show white, the plane will stay up by itself. . . . To detach myself from my children . . . I had to achieve a condition which might be called loving objectivity.
