Quercus coccifera, the Kermes Oak, is an oak in the Quercus section Cerris. It is native to the western Mediterranean region and Northern African Maghreb, in coastal areas since south to north from Morocco to south France and from west to east since Portugal to Turkey, crossing Spain, south Italy, Libya, Balkan peninsula coast, Mediterranean islands, Greece, etc.
