Death

Foot died at his Hampstead, North London home in the morning of 3 March 2010. The House of Commons was informed of the news later that day by Justice Secretary Jack Straw, who told the House: "I am sure that this news will be received with great sadness not only in my own party but across the country as a whole." Foot's funeral was a non-religious service, held on 15 March 2010 at Golders Green Crematorium in North West London.

Famous quotes containing the word death:

    An “unemployed” existence is a worse negation of life than death itself.
    José Ortega Y Gasset (1883–1955)

    In the whole vast dome of living nature there reigns an open violence, a kind of prescriptive fury which arms all the creatures to their common doom: as soon as you leave the inanimate kingdom you find the decree of violent death inscribed on the very frontiers of life.
    Joseph De Maistre (1753–1821)

    O mortal folk, you may behold and see
    How I lie here, sometime a mighty knight;
    The end of joy and all prosperity
    Is death at last, thorough his course and might;
    Stephen Hawes (1474–1528)
