Famous quotes containing the words king, edward, grammar and/or school:

    I have seen in this revolution a circular motion of the sovereign power through two usurpers, father and son, to the late King to this his son. For ... it moved from King Charles I to the Long Parliament; from thence to the Rump; from the Rump to Oliver Cromwell; and then back again from Richard Cromwell to the Rump; then to the Long Parliament; and thence to King Charles, where long may it remain.
    Thomas Hobbes (1579–1688)

    I see you’re a man with ideals. I guess I better be going while you’ve still got them.
    Mae West, U.S. screenwriter, W.C. Fields, and Edward Cline. Flower Belle Lee (Mae West)

    The new grammar of race is constructed in a way that George Orwell would have appreciated, because its rules make some ideas impossible to express—unless, of course, one wants to be called a racist.
    Stephen Carter (b. 1954)

    Their school a crowd, his master solitude;
    Through Jonathan Swift’s dark grove he passed, and there
    Plucked bitter wisdom that enriched his blood.
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)
