Julian Koster - With Neutral Milk Hotel

With Neutral Milk Hotel

Further information: Neutral Milk Hotel

Koster joined Jeff Mangum, Scott Spillane and Jeremy Barnes to record the second Neutral Milk Hotel album, In the Aeroplane over the Sea, on which he played bass, banjo and singing saw. The success of the album, however, took its toll on Jeff Mangum, and the band went on hiatus shortly after its release.

Famous quotes containing the words neutral, milk and/or hotel:

The seashore is a sort of neutral ground, a most advantageous point from which to contemplate this world. It is even a trivial place. The waves forever rolling to the land are too far-traveled and untamable to be familiar. Creeping along the endless beach amid the sun-squall and the foam, it occurs to us that we, too, are the product of sea-slime.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Things are seldom what they seem,
    Skim milk masquerades as cream.
    Sir William Schwenck Gilbert (1836–1911)

Consider his life which was valueless
In terms of employment, hotel ledgers, news files.
Consider. One bullet in ten thousand kills a man.
Ask. Was so much expenditure justified
On the death of one so young and so silly
Lying under the olive tree, O world, O death?
    Stephen Spender (1909–1995)
