Gregory of Nazianzus - Feast Day

Feast Day

In the Western churches Gregory's feast day is on January 2. The Eastern Orthodox Church and the Eastern Catholic Churches celebrate two feast days in honor of Gregory: January 25 as his primary feast and January 30, known as the feast of the Three Great Hierarchs, which commemorates him along with John Chrysoston and Basil of Caesarea.

Famous quotes containing the words feast and/or day:

My prime of youth is but a frost of cares,
My feast of joy is but a dish of pain,
My crop of corn is but a field of tares,
And all my good is but vain hope of gain:
The day is past, and yet I saw no sun,
And now I live, and now my life is done.
    Chidiock Tichborne (1558–1586)

To think to know the country and not know
The hillside on the day the sun lets go
Ten million silver lizards out of snow!
    Robert Frost (1874–1963)
