Green Fireballs - Green Fireballs Outside The United States

Green Fireballs Outside The United States

There have been reports of green fireballs outside the U.S. and long after the early days of Project Twinkle often near sensitive government or military bases: Randles and Houghe note that a Royal Air Force pilot had a near collision with three unusual green fireballs near Manchester, England, and were also sighted near a nuclear power plant in Suffolk in 1983 (Randles and Houghe, p. 92). There was also a sighting of a green fireball in Cold Lake, AB, Canada in the summer of 2011. Cold Lake notably has the largest air force base in all of Canada, and after several local protests in the 1980s, Cold Lake no longer has nuclear weapons.

Famous quotes containing the words united states, green, united and/or states:

Falling in love with a United States Senator is a splendid ordeal. One is nestled snugly into the bosom of power but also placed squarely in the hazardous path of exposure.
    Barbara Howar (b. 1934)

There is something I have forgotten, some precious thing.
I shall be seeking ornaments of ivory,
I shall be dying for a jungle fruit.

    You do not hear, Bethesda.
O still green water in a stagnant pool!
    Arna Bontemps (1902–1973)

It is said that the British Empire is very large and respectable, and that the United States are a first-rate power. We do not believe that a tide rises and falls behind every man which can float the British Empire like a chip, if he should ever harbor it in his mind.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

In the case of a deliberate, palpable, and dangerous exercise of ... powers not granted by the compact, the States ... are in duty bound to interpose for arresting the progress of the evil, and for maintaining within their respective limits the authorities, rights, and liberties appertaining to them.
    James Madison (1751–1836)
