Earth Systems Program
The Earth Systems Program (ESP) seeks to examine the increased stresses on the environment, including issues relating to energy, food, agriculture, water, and other natural resources, and to analyze how they interact with respect to international security. ESP was created out of the idea that technology should allow people worldwide to improve their living standards and amenities through secure and environmental-friendly ways. ESP seeks to improve dialogue and trust between environmental scientists, policy makers, and the public, as well as to develop science partnerships to solve critical environment and energy problems.

Famous quotes containing the words earth, systems and/or program:
“The earth has become small, and on it hops the last man, who makes everything small. His race can no more be exterminated than the flea can be. The last man lives the longest.”
—Friedrich Nietzsche (18441900)
“We have done scant justice to the reasonableness of cannibalism. There are in fact so many and such excellent motives possible to it that mankind has never been able to fit all of them into one universal scheme, and has accordingly contrived various diverse and contradictory systems the better to display its virtues.”
—Ruth Benedict (18871948)
“Along the highway, all but lost among blatant neon lights flashing Whiskey and Dance and Dine, are crudely daubed warnings erected by itinerant evangelists, announcing that Jesus is soon coming, or exhorting the traveler to prepare to meet thy God.”
—For the State of Florida, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)
