Labor
Under Chávez, Venezuela has also instituted worker-run "co-management" initiatives in which workers' councils play a key role in the management of a plant or factory. In experimental co-managed enterprises, such as the state-owned Alcasa factory, workers develop budgets and elect both managers and departmental delegates who work together with company executives on technical issues related to production.
In November 2010, following the expropriation of U.S. bottle-maker Owens-Illinois, workers spent a week protesting outside factories in Valera and Valencia.

Famous quotes containing the word labor:
“Learning without thought is labor lost.”
—Confucius (551479 B.C.)
“Women of a selected class, by the use of slaves and servants have become inactive, the mere recipients of values, no longer creators but feeding on unearned wealth. This hurts their nature and debases the social fabric. If a woman does no labor in her home which could properly make her self-supporting outside that home she is in duty bound to do something outside her home to justify her claim to support.”
—Anna Garlin Spencer (18511931)
“I know my state, both full of shame and scorn,
Conceived in sin, and unto labor born,
Standing with fear, and must with horror fall,
And destined unto judgment, after all.”
—Ben Jonson (15721637)
