Cover date refers to the date displayed on the covers of periodical publications such as magazines and comic books. This is not necessarily the true date of publication. For some publications, the cover date may not actually be found on the cover, but rather on an inside jacket or on an interior page.

Famous quotes containing the words cover and/or date:
“He is a stranger to me but he is a most remarkable manand I am the other one. Between us, we cover all knowledge; he knows all that can be known and I know the rest”

“Until I was twenty-five, I had no development at all. From my twenty-fifth year I date my life. Three weeks have scarcely passed, at any time between then and now, that I have not unfolded within myself. But I feel that I am now come to the inmost leaf of the bulb, and that shortly the flower must fall to the mould.”
—Herman Melville (18191891)
