Brigade Combat Team - Heavy Brigade Combat Team

Heavy Brigade Combat Team

The heavy brigade combat team is the army's primary armored force. It will be designed around combined arms battalions that contain both M1 Abrams tanks and M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs). Other vehicles, such as HMMWVs and variants of the M113 armored personnel carrier, operate in a supporting role. In the future, it will also contain vehicles from the BCT Ground Combat Vehicle Program.

The heavy brigade combat team consists of six battalions: two combined arms and one each of armored reconnaissance (cavalry), fires (artillery), special troops, and support. The brigade combat team was renamed from a heavy brigade combat team to a heavy brigade combat team in 2012.

Famous quotes containing the words heavy, brigade, combat and/or team:

Before the last went, heavy with dew,
Back to the place from which she came
Where the bird was before it flew,
Where the flower was before it grew,
Where bird and flower were one and the same.
    Robert Frost (1874–1963)

[John] Brough’s majority is “glorious to behold.” It is worth a big victory in the field. It is decisive as to the disposition of the people to prosecute the war to the end. My regiment and brigade were both unanimous for Brough [the Union party candidate for governor of Ohio].
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)

In case I conk out, this is provisionally what I have to do: I must clarify obscurities; I must make clearer definite ideas or dissociations. I must find a verbal formula to combat the rise of brutality—the principle of order versus the split atom.
    Ezra Pound (1885–1972)

    Is my team ploughing,
That I was used to drive
    And hear the harness jingle
    When I was man alive?
    —A.E. (Alfred Edward)
