The 200GS is best known for its low cost in price, maintenance, and mileage, while having a sporty look and high endurance for very long trips. Such traits allowed the bike to be used as a daily economical sports ride for commuters like an ordinary executive motorcycle, which is difficult with true sports bikes with displacements of over 600cc to 1000cc, due to extra maintenance costs and high fuel expenses. The Zongshen GS series however, are difficult to maneuver in dense traffic (esp. for a small built rider) due to its 165 kg weight. But such disadvantage gives the 200GS high stability on highways.
However, due to the economical aspects with its single-cylinder 4-stroke engine, the bike cannot be expected to go past its 75 mph topspeed without reaching red line. The bike, therefore, should not be used for Moto GP racing. It only lives up to its category of a Sport touring bike for travelling, and a safe sports level entry bike to prepare a racing aspirant or newbie for the higher displacement sports bikes.
