Zimbabwe African National Union - Relationship With Armed Wing

Relationship With Armed Wing

ZANLA was ZANU's military wing. Before 1980, it was very heavily dependent on China and other communist countries for finance and for arms supplies - and indeed for weapons training. Thus, it is easy to understand why ZANU wanted it to appear that they were receptive to Communist and Maoist ideology.

Famous quotes containing the words relationship with, relationship, armed and/or wing:

Every man is in a state of conflict, owing to his attempt to reconcile himself and his relationship with life to his conception of harmony. This conflict makes his soul a battlefield, where the forces that wish this reconciliation fight those that do not and reject the alternative solutions they offer. Works of art are attempts to fight out this conflict in the imaginative world.
    Rebecca West (1892–1983)

Most childhood problems don’t result from “bad” parenting, but are the inevitable result of the growing that parents and children do together. The point isn’t to head off these problems or find ways around them, but rather to work through them together and in doing so to develop a relationship of mutual trust to rely on when the next problem comes along.
    Fred Rogers (20th century)

There are lone figures armed only with ideas, sometimes with just one idea, who blast away whole epochs in which we are enwrapped like mummies. Some are powerful enough to resurrect the dead. Some steal on us unawares and put a spell over us which it takes centuries to throw off. Some put a curse on us, for our stupidity and inertia, and then it seems as if God himself were unable to lift it.
    Henry Miller (1891–1980)

As if her velvet helmet high
    Did turret rationality.
She fans her wing up to the winde
As if her Pettycoate were lin’de
With reasons fleece, and hoises saile
And humming flies in thankfull gaile
    Edward Taylor (1645–1729)
