The Legend of The Condor Heroes
Zhou is the junior of Wang Chongyang, the founder of Quanzhen Sect. He is the most senior of all Quanzhen members after Wang died. However, Zhou neither accepts any students nor remain in Quanzhen most of the time. Instead, he roams the jianghu to derive entertainment from anything of interest to him, including fights and toys. Despite so, he still maintains respect for Wang and abides by Quanzhen's rules.
Zhou had a romantic affair with Duan Zhixing's concubine Liu Ying, but broke up with her after heeding Wang's advice. However, Liu was already pregnant with Zhou's child and she gave birth to a son later. The infant was mortally wounded by a masked assailant (later revealed to be Qiu Qianren) and died from his injuries. Duan Zhixing, who had the ability to save the boy, refused to do so. Zhou was unaware that he had a son until he met Liu Ying (renamed to Yinggu) several years later.

Famous quotes containing the words legend, condor and/or heroes:
“We should burn all libraries and allow to remain only that which everyone knows by heart. A beautiful age of the legend would then begin.”
—Hugo Ball (18861927)
“Of late, eternal Condor years
So shake the very Heaven on high
With tumult as they thunder by,
I have no time for idle cares
Through gazing on the unquiet sky.”
—Edgar Allan Poe (18091849)
“These, and such as these, must be our antiquities, for lack of human vestiges. The monuments of heroes and the temples of the gods which may once have stood on the banks of this river are now, at any rate, returned to dust and primitive soil. The murmur of unchronicled nations has died away along these shores, and once more Lowell and Manchester are on the trail of the Indian.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
