Zeven OS

ZevenOS is a German Linux distribution. It is based on Xubuntu and focuses on a fast and easy to use system while mimicking the look and feel of BeOS. It is intended to work also on older laptops and computers with low CPU speed and memory. The current stable version of ZevenOS is the 5.0 release (5 December 2012) and is based on Ubuntu's 12.10 "Quantal Quetzal" release.

In addition to common applications, ZevenOS and ZevenOS-Neptune features a lot of multimedia tools and is suitable for media playback and ship with a full set of codecs as well as the flashplayer.

ZevenOS-Neptune aka Neptune is a community driven branch, based on Debian-"Stable". It ships with a newer Kernel(3.9.2), more drivers, and modern hardware support. Unlike ZevenOS it implements a modern KDE4 Desktop with customized theme and settings. It is optimized to run from USB stick. The release of ZevenOS-Neptune 2.0 is the first version which shipped in two editions - Full edition (with KDE SC) and Minimal edition (with LXDE).

ZevenOS-Neptune 2.5 "Full-Edition" includes a current KDE Plasma Workspace, Chromium, Iceweasel, VLC, Amarok, LibreOffice etc.

The ZevenOS-Neptune "Minimal-Edition" for minor system-requirements and smaller iso < 700 MB includes PCManFM, DeaDBeef, Gnome-Mplayer (with Mplayer2), Abiword, Iceweasel and Icedove.
