The Zambia Red Cross Society was established in 1966 by an act of the Zambian Parliament. It had earlier started out as a branch of the British Red Cross. It has its headquarters in Lusaka.
Famous quotes containing the words red, cross and/or society:
“It might become a wheel spoked red and white
In alternate stripes converging at a point
Of flame on the line, with a second wheel below,
Just rising, accompanying, arranged to cross,
Through weltering illuminations, humps
Of billows, downward, toward the drift-fire shore.”
—Wallace Stevens (18791955)
“As I was going by Charing Cross,
I saw a black man upon a black horse;
They told me it was King Charles the First”
—Unknown. As I was going by Charing Cross (l. 13)
“One great Society alone on Earth,
The noble Living, and the noble Dead.”
—William Wordsworth (17701850)
