Zahran Tribe

Zahran Tribe (Arabic: زهران‎) is one of the Arabian tribes in the Arabian Peninsula. it's regarded to be one of the largest tribes in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. most members of the Zahran tribe were/ still are farmers. therefore it is not considered a bedouin tribe. It's members live in modern day Saudi Arabia.

The Zahran family name which very likely does not have any relation to this specific tribe if found outside modern day Saudi Arabia, is found throughout the Middle East. It is held by individuals in Egypt, Lebanon, Israel, Syria, Jordan, Palestinian territories, Region, and spans the entire globe. In addition, such individuals span many faiths. The name is derived during the Byzantine era from the Arabic word for flower.

Al Baha, (known historically as the 'garden of Yemen')( historical yemem is different not the same as modern day Repulic of yemen) is the absolute home land of two big tribes: Ghamid and Zahran. Large numbers however, currently live in western Saudi Arabia (mainly in Mecca Jeddah) Riyadh and Dammam due to large migration from villages and small cities during the 1960s and 70's in search of a better life. Zahran is well-known tribe before and after Islam. Many of them left their houses, homes and relatives and joined the prophet Mohammed in Medina. The Islamic history has acknowledged many of the Zahrani companions such as Abu Hurairah and Tufayl ibn Amr. Others are known as Arabic scholars e.g. Ibn Draid and Abo Al-rabai
