Zack Werner (born Isaac Werner, in Winnipeg, Manitoba) has had a career in the music industry as an artist, producer, entertainment lawyer and manager. He is also president of Toronto-based Venus Management and Venus Records (distributed by EMI), where he spends his time finding and developing new talent across Canada.
He attended the St. John's-Ravenscourt School. After receiving a B.A. from the University of Minnesota and a law degree from the University of British Columbia, Werner moved to Toronto and joined local rock band The Ringing. The band, managed by Gary Pring secured a development deal with Capitol Records.
Werner was also one of the judges on Canadian Idol. Cast as the Canadian equivalent of Simon Cowell, Werner garnered significant criticism from Canadian media for the degree to which he copied Cowell's persona on the show.
Werner is a member of Canadian band Haymaker. In August 2009, it was announced that Werner would host a weekend show on CJTN-FM (Rock 107) in Belleville, Ontario. After a short stint, he departed from Rock 107 in Summer 2010 to pursue other ventures. Werner was also a member of Canadian band Mystic Kick from August 12, 2010 - August 2011. Mr Werner performed for the first time in January 2011 with bassist Ron Laframboise. He would later continue his work with bassist Ron Laframboise in Ottawa, at a fundraising performance, with the band The Blue Jacks.
