Education

Goldsmith was educated at four independent schools: at King's House School in Richmond and The Mall School in Twickenham, followed by Hawtreys School, near Great Bedwyn in Wiltshire, and Eton College in Berkshire, and later earned four A Levels as a student at the Cambridge Centre for Sixth-form Studies, after having been expelled from Eton for possession of cannabis.

Famous quotes containing the word education:

... the physical and domestic education of daughters should occupy the principal attention of mothers, in childhood: and the stimulation of the intellect should be very much reduced.
    Catherine E. Beecher (1800–1878)

In the years of the Roman Republic, before the Christian era, Roman education was meant to produce those character traits that would make the ideal family man. Children were taught primarily to be good to their families. To revere gods, one’s parents, and the laws of the state were the primary lessons for Roman boys. Cicero described the goal of their child rearing as “self- control, combined with dutiful affection to parents, and kindliness to kindred.”
    C. John Sommerville (20th century)

Very likely education does not make very much difference.
    Gertrude Stein (1874–1946)
