Yukawa Institute For Theoretical Physics

The Yukawa Institute for Theoretical Physics (基礎物理学研究所, kiso butsurigaku kenkyūsho?) is a research institute in the field of theoretical physics, attached to Kyoto University in Japan. It was inaugurated in 1952. While the center is often referred to as "YITP", this can be confusing as YITP also stands for the C. N. Yang Institute for Theoretical Physics at Stony Brook University in the United States.

Famous quotes containing the words institute, theoretical and/or physics:

Whenever any form of government shall become destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, & to institute new government, laying it’s foundation on such principles & organising it’s powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety & happiness.
    Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826)

There are theoretical reformers at all times, and all the world over, living on anticipation.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

But this invites the occult mind,
Cancels our physics with a sneer,
And spatters all we knew of denouement
Across the expedient and wicked stones.
    Karl Shapiro (b. 1913)
