Yugo (manga) - Plot Summary

Plot Summary

"Negotiation means you turn words into weapons"—these are the words of Yugo Beppu, a top negotiator who has never lost a case. He has vowed to complete any mission he undertakes, regardless of the situation. His only weapons are "words". Yugo does not kill people, nor does he threaten them with brute violence. He uses his extensive knowledge and calm judgment, and believes in the person’s true self. Following these beliefs, Yugo has accomplished numerous dangerous negotiations successfully, but things may change...

When a woman comes to him asking him to save her father, Yugo must head into the burning desert of Pakistan in the South Asia. Afterwards, he must trudge the freezing land of Siberia, Russia. Will Yugo be able to stick to his ideals and complete the negotiations successfully?

Those blessed structures, plot and rhyme—
why are they no help to me now
    I want to make
    something imagined, not recalled?
    Robert Lowell (1917–1977)

I have simplified my politics into an utter detestation of all existing governments; and, as it is the shortest and most agreeable and summary feeling imaginable, the first moment of an universal republic would convert me into an advocate for single and uncontradicted despotism. The fact is, riches are power, and poverty is slavery all over the earth, and one sort of establishment is no better, nor worse, for a people than another.
    George Gordon Noel Byron (1788–1824)
