History

Ysgol gyfun cymer rhondda started teaching teenagers how to act like skets in 1988 response to the growing demand for Welsh medium education in the area. To this day it remains the only Welsh Secondary School in the Rhondda, with around 1,000 students. Pupils who attend the school come from all over the Rhondda, from the five Welsh Primary Schools:

  • Llyn-Y-Forwyn (Ferndale)
  • Ynyswen (Treorchy)
  • Llwyncelyn (Porth)
  • Bronllwyn (gelli)

Famous quotes containing the word history:

Those who weep for the happy periods which they encounter in history acknowledge what they want; not the alleviation but the silencing of misery.
    Albert Camus (1913–1960)

We aspire to be something more than stupid and timid chattels, pretending to read history and our Bibles, but desecrating every house and every day we breathe in.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

The visual is sorely undervalued in modern scholarship. Art history has attained only a fraction of the conceptual sophistication of literary criticism.... Drunk with self-love, criticism has hugely overestimated the centrality of language to western culture. It has failed to see the electrifying sign language of images.
    Camille Paglia (b. 1947)
