Youth Voice - Movement

Movement

A broad international movement exists to promote youth voice, born from earlier youth service and youth rights movements. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child was the first international mechanism to stipulate the systemic engagement of youth voice. Specific aims are stated in Articles 5 and 12 that clearly acknowledge the youth have a voice, that youth voice is constantly changing, and that all areas of our society are morally responsible for engaging youth voice. Annual events which center on youth voice include Global Youth Service Day and the National Service Learning Conference.

Famous quotes containing the word movement:

I am haunted by interrupted acts,
    introspective as a leper, enchanted
    by a repulsive clew,
a gross and fugitive movement of the limbs.
Is this the love that shook the lights to flame?
    Muriel Rukeyser (1913–1980)

You watched and you saw what happened and in the accumulation of episodes you saw the pattern: Daddy ruled the roost, called the shots, made the money, made the decisions, so you signed up on his side, and fifteen years later when the women’s movement came along with its incendiary manifestos telling you to avoid marriage and motherhood, it was as if somebody put a match to a pile of dry kindling.
    Anne Taylor Fleming (20th century)

Every little movement has a meaning all its own.
    Otto Harbach (1873–1963)
