Your Time Has Come - Criticism

Criticism

"Your Time Has Come" has received much criticism from Metallica fans, who claim the main guitar riff is copied off of "Bad Seed," which was featured on Metallica's 1997 release ReLoad. The difference is the tuning; "Bad Seed" is in E-flat, whereas "Your Time Has Come" is performed in E standard tuning. The band has not commented on this issue to date.

In addition to this, the riff has been compared to "Get on the Snake" by vocalist Chris Cornell's previous band, Soundgarden. The main riff from this song and the verse riff from "Get on the Snake" are very similar, apart from a difference in the time signature.

Famous quotes containing the word criticism:

I consider criticism merely a preliminary excitement, a statement of things a writer has to clear up in his own head sometime or other, probably antecedent to writing; of no value unless it come to fruit in the created work later.
    Ezra Pound (1885–1972)

People try so hard to believe in leaders now, pitifully hard. But we no sooner get a popular reformer or politician or soldier or writer or philosopher—a Roosevelt, a Tolstoy, a Wood, a Shaw, a Nietzsche, than the cross-currents of criticism wash him away. My Lord, no man can stand prominence these days. It’s the surest path to obscurity. People get sick of hearing the same name over and over.
    F. Scott Fitzgerald (1896–1940)

It is ... pathetic to observe the complete lack of imagination on the part of certain employers and men and women of the upper-income levels, equally devoid of experience, equally glib with their criticism ... directed against workers, labor leaders, and other villains and personal devils who are the objects of their dart-throwing. Who doesn’t know the wealthy woman who fulminates against the “idle” workers who just won’t get out and hunt jobs?
    Mary Barnett Gilson (1877–?)
