"Your Swaying Arms" was the first single from the album Fellow Hoodlums by the Scottish rock band Deacon Blue.
Released in May 1991, it reached #23 on the UK singles chart, but went as high as #6 in Ireland, the last in the group's run of seven Irish top 10 hits between 1988 and 1991.
The releases contained two B-sides, "Fourteen Years" and "Faifley", both of which are rough, bluesy songs that Ricky Ross speaks and sings in a deep, raspy voice.
The 10" vinyl version, surprisingly, contained techno dance remixes of the otherwise placid track.
Famous quotes containing the words swaying and/or arms:
“The novel is, or may be, among the mightiest instruments for swaying the heart and guiding the lives of men.”
—P., U.S. womens magazine contributor. American Ladies Magazine, pp. 357-9 (August 1828)
“It does not come to a man that to be separated from a woman is to be dislocated from his very self. A man has but one centre, and that is himself. A woman has two. Though the second may never be seen by her, may live in the arms of another, may do all for that other that man can do for woman, still, still, though he be half the globe asunder from her, still he is to her the half of her existence.”
—Anthony Trollope (18151882)
