Your Dollar Store With More - History

History

In the Spring of 1998, Russ Meszaros (President) and Sherry Meszaros had an idea – to raise the bar in the dollar store industry by opening a dollar store that was less cluttered, well merchandised, brighter, cleaner and more inviting for customers to shop. This idea was further enhanced by the practical knowledge and experience Russ had gleaned from a major Western Canadian grocer.

Within a few short months, Russ and Sherry opened their first store in Merritt, BC. Within weeks they opened their second corporate store in Kelowna, BC. These stores were such a success that they immediately started franchising this concept. Three years later, Your Dollar Store with More had over 100 stores. Today that number has expanded to over 120 stores. Your Dollar Store with More projects to open 7-10 new stores across Canada, in each of the next five years.

Your Dollar Store with More is one of the few Dollar Store franchises that owns and operates corporate stores. This allows them to identify with the daily operating procedures faced by franchisees. They also experience the process of dealing with suppliers and selecting the right merchandising mix. This information generated by the corporate stores is then used to assist franchisees and keep them top of the dollar store industry trends.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

All history is a record of the power of minorities, and of minorities of one.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

In history an additional result is commonly produced by human actions beyond that which they aim at and obtain—that which they immediately recognize and desire. They gratify their own interest; but something further is thereby accomplished, latent in the actions in question, though not present to their consciousness, and not included in their design.
    Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770–1831)

To history therefore I must refer for answer, in which it would be an unhappy passage indeed, which should shew by what fatal indulgence of subordinate views and passions, a contest for an atom had defeated well founded prospects of giving liberty to half the globe.
    Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826)
