Young Scots for Independence (YSI) (Sometimes termed SNP Youth) is the youth wing of the Scottish National Party (SNP). It is not to be confused with Federation of Student Nationalists, which is for those in higher education, and whose membership is not restricted by age, unlike the YSI.
The YSI is autonomous from the SNP and as such is entitled to formulate its own policies and devise its own campaigns. The YSI is represented on the SNP National Executive Committee and can send delegates to meetings of the SNP Annual National Conference.

Famous quotes containing the words young, scots and/or independence:
“A young man in the dark am I
But a wild old man in the light
That can make a cat laugh, or
Can touch by mother wit
Things hid in their marrow bones
From time long passed away....”
—William Butler Yeats (18651939)
“Haf owre, haf owre to Aberdour,
Its fiftie fadom deip,
And thair lies guid Sir Patrick Spence,
Wi the Scots lords at his feit.”
—Unknown. Sir Patrick Spens (l. 4144)
“...there was the annual Fourth of July picketing at Independence Hall in Philadelphia. ...I thought it was ridiculous to have to go there in a skirt. But I did it anyway because it was something that might possibly have an effect. I remember walking around in my little white blouse and skirt and tourists standing there eating their ice cream cones and watching us like the zoo had opened.”
—Martha Shelley, U.S. author and social activist. As quoted in Making History, part 3, by Eric Marcus (1992)
