Famous quotes containing the words robin hood, young, robin and/or hood:

It is now many years that men have resorted to the forest for fuel and the materials of the arts: the New Englander and the New Hollander, the Parisian and the Celt, the farmer and Robin Hood, Goody Blake and Harry Gill; in most parts of the world, the prince and the peasant, the scholar and the savage, equally require still a few sticks from the forest to warm them and cook their food. Neither could I do without them.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Someone criticized an elderly man for wooing young women. He replied that that was the only way to rejuvenation, which was, after all, everybody’s wish.
    Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe (1749–1832)

    But strictly between us,
You’re cuter than Venus and what’s more you’ve got arms.
    —Leo Robin (1900–1984)

    Work—work—work,
    In the dull December light,
    And work—work—work,
When the weather is warm and bright—
    While underneath the eaves
    The brooding swallows cling
As if to show me their sunny backs
And twit me with the spring.
    —Thomas Hood (1799–1845)
