Electoral Success
Several members of the Young Progressive Democrats have run for election in both local elections and general elections. These include Jason O'Mahoney, Noelle Ryan, Bob Quinn, Paul McAuliffe, Ben Howe and Barry Saul.
Barry Saul was the first YPD member to serve as a public representative when he was co-opted to Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council in 2003. Alan McGaughey (YPD Chairperson 2002) was subsequently co-opted onto South Dublin County Council in January 2008.
In the 2009 Local elections, both Barry Saul (Now FG), and Paul McAuliffe (FF) were elected to Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, and Dublin City Council Respectively.

Famous quotes containing the words electoral and/or success:
“Power is action; the electoral principle is discussion. No political action is possible when discussion is permanently established.”
—HonorĂ© De Balzac (17991850)
“I feel that you will not only be the making of my happiness, but also of my fortunes or success in life. The truth is I never did half try to be anything, or do anything. There was no motive ... and so I have lived, not an idle, but a useless sort of life. Hereafter I hope all that will be quite changed.... I shall have purpose and steadiness to keep ever doing, looking to your happiness and approval as my best reward.”
—Rutherford Birchard Hayes (18221893)
