Famous quotes containing the words young, greens and/or council:

There was a young monk from Siberia
    Whose morals were very inferior.
    He did to a nun
    What he shouldn’t have done
And now she’s a Mother Superior.

Our democracy, our culture, our whole way of life is a spectacular triumph of the blah. Why not have a political convention without politics to nominate a leader who’s out in front of nobody?... Maybe our national mindlessness is the very thing that keeps us from turning into one of those smelly European countries full of pseudo-reds and crypto-fascists and greens who dress like forest elves.
    —P.J. (Patrick Jake)

Daughter to that good Earl, once President
Of England’s Council and her Treasury,
Who lived in both, unstain’d with gold or fee,
And left them both, more in himself content.

Till the sad breaking of that Parliament
Broke him, as that dishonest victory
    At Chaeronea, fatal to liberty,
Kill’d with report that old man eloquent;—
    John Milton (1608–1674)
