History
YouSendIt was founded on July 7, 2003 by Khalid Shaikh, Amir Shaikh and Ranjith Kumaran (founder of PunchTab) with the goal of finding a way to send large files from one entity to another. In the beginning stages, YouSendIt was using HTTP-Tunnel Corp resources, including equipment, data center and R&D to build the company. Jimmy Vienneau, who was working at HTTP-Tunnel Corp full time, co-created the marketing platform, negotiate equipment, search and hire talent, negotiate logistic contracts and help design the business plan. Romel Haq built and managed the hardware requirements from the ground-up. Francis Wu was the lead designer for the web site and the YouSendIT logo. YouSendIt received their first round of funding following presentations at TieCon 2004 in May. At this point, YouSendIt had about 300,000 transfers per day. Individuals were sharing files through YouSendIt and that created viral growth.

Famous quotes containing the word history:
“If you look at the 150 years of modern Chinas history since the Opium Wars, then you cant avoid the conclusion that the last 15 years are the best 15 years in Chinas modern history.”
—J. Stapleton Roy (b. 1935)
“I am ashamed to see what a shallow village tale our so-called History is. How many times must we say Rome, and Paris, and Constantinople! What does Rome know of rat and lizard? What are Olympiads and Consulates to these neighboring systems of being? Nay, what food or experience or succor have they for the Esquimaux seal-hunter, or the Kanaka in his canoe, for the fisherman, the stevedore, the porter?”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“The second day of July 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more”
—John Adams (17351826)
