You Could Have It So Much Better is the second studio album by Glaswegian indie rock band Franz Ferdinand that was first released 3 October 2005 in the United Kingdom. Recorded in both the United States and their own studio in Glasgow with producer Rich Costey, the album gave birth to the release of four UK Top 30 singles "Do You Want To" on 23 August 2005, "The Fallen / L. Wells", "Walk Away" and "Eleanor Put Your Boots On." The album became the band's first UK #1 album and although their debut album was relatively successful in the USA, going platinum and reaching #32, You Could Have It So Much Better managed to reach #8 and earned gold status in the States. The cover design is modeled on Alexander Rodchenko's 1924 portrait of Lilya Brik. It was produced by Rich Costey and Franz Ferdinand.

Famous quotes containing the words you could, you, have, much and/or better:
“I’m coming home. I remember your saying when I left that people were dying and that I was crapping around with fate to come here. You were more right than you could imagine.”
—Judith Rascoe, U.S. screenwriter, Robert Stone (b. 1939)
“You may as soon make her that you love believe it, which I
warrant she is apter to do than to confess she does.”
—William Shakespeare (1564–1616)
“I call on those that call me son,
Grandson, or great-grandson,
On uncles, aunts, great-uncles or great-aunts
To judge what I have done.
Have I, that put it into words,
Spoilt what old loins have sent?”
—William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)
“How much can come
And much can go,
And yet abide the World!”
—Emily Dickinson (1830–1886)
“Kasper Gutman: You’re a closemouthed man?
Sam Spade: Un, un. I like to talk.
Gutman: Better and better. I distrust a closemouthed man. He generally picks the wrong time to talk and says the wrong things. Talking is something you can’t do judiciously unless you keep in practice.”
—John Huston (1906–1987)
