The series has been the subject of jokes, especially from the Radio 4 comedy programme I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue:
We kick off this week with a game called Worst Things To Hear, and it's all about those little phrases you might inadvertently overhear, and immediately wish you hadn't. One that instantly springs to mind is: "...and now an extended edition of You and Yours... ...we've received this letter, and it comes from a Mrs. Trellis of North Wales. She writes: Dear You and Yours, I see you now have a 'listen again' facility. Why? Yours sincerely, Mrs. Trellis. Humphrey Lyttleton: Please complete these similes. As boring as? Sandi Toksvig: As boring as You and Yours. In the BBC's supernatural comedy-drama series, Being Human, Hal (a vampire) listens to You and Yours as part of his daily routine designed to keep him occupied and away from killing people.
The comedian Paul Merton has also made jokes about You and Yours. Although he spoke about the programme when given the topic "The Best Programme on Radio Four" on the Radio Four comedy programme Just a Minute, he once said that "You and Yours" sometimes gets called "Up You and Yours".

Famous quotes containing the words popular and/or culture:
“A popular Government, without popular information, or the means of acquiring it, is but a Prologue to a Farce or a Tragedy.”
—James Madison (17511836)
“Let a man attain the highest and broadest culture that any American has possessed, then let him die by sea-storm, railroad collision, or other accident, and all America will acquiesce that the best thing has happened to him; that, after the education has gone far, such is the expensiveness of America, that the best use to put a fine person to is to drown him to save his board.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
