Yorkville competes in the Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference and Illinois High School Association. They formerly competed in the Western Sun Conference. Its mascot is the Foxes.

Dennis Hastert was Yorkville's head wrestling coach from the program's first season in 1973 until his departure in 1980. During his tenure as head coach, The Foxes won district four of seven seasons, including a state championship in the 1975-76 school year. Yorkville also won back-to-back state championships in wrestling under Coach Bob Long in the 92-93 and 93-94 school years.
