Platform Screen Doors
Yishun, Pasir Ris and Jurong East were the first stations to undergo testing as to whether the platform screen doors were viable for elevated stations. Eventually, installation of the half-height screen doors started on 26 August 2009 and operations commenced on 2nd December 2009. It was the second above-ground station to have half-height platform screen doors installed and commence operations, after Pasir Ris. The tests were successful. Half-height screen doors have been installed in all elevated stations.

Famous quotes containing the words platform, screen and/or doors:
“... a Christian has neither more nor less rights in our association than an atheist. When our platform becomes too narrow for people of all creeds and of no creeds, I myself cannot stand upon it.”
—Susan B. Anthony (18201906)
“We like the chase better than the quarry.... And those who philosophize on the matter, and who think men unreasonable for spending a whole day in chasing a hare which they would not have bought, scarce know our nature. The hare in itself would not screen us from the sight of death and calamities; but the chase, which turns away our attention from these, does screen us.”
—Blaise Pascal (16231662)
“Some hours seem not to be occasion for any deed, but for resolves to draw breath in. We do not directly go about the execution of the purpose that thrills us, but shut our doors behind us and ramble with prepared mind, as if the half were already done. Our resolution is taking root or hold on the earth then, as seeds first send a shoot downward which is fed by their own albumen, ere they send one upward to the light.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
