Elementary School
The Akiva elementary school has a half-day of Judaic studies classes and a half-day of secular studies classes. While this curriculum is more challenging than a conventional day school, it is necessary in order to give "the best of both world" to students. Elementary school students participate in a variety of extras, including the "Gedalya Mitchell Kol Haneshama youth choir", art, gym, and yoga.

Famous quotes containing the words elementary and/or school:
“As if paralyzed by the national fear of ideas, the democratic distrust of whatever strikes beneath the prevailing platitudes, it evades all resolute and honest dealing with what, after all, must be every healthy literatures elementary materials.”
—H.L. (Henry Lewis)
“Dissonance between family and school, therefore, is not only inevitable in a changing society; it also helps to make children more malleable and responsive to a changing world. By the same token, one could say that absolute homogeneity between family and school would reflect a static, authoritarian society and discourage creative, adaptive development in children.”
—Sara Lawrence Lightfoot (20th century)
