Yeshiva Gedolah of the Five Towns (YGFT)(Mesoras Hatorah),is a yeshiva located on West Broadway, in Woodmere, New York. It consists of approximately 70 students and four rabbis. The primary goals of the yeshiva include advancing the students' level of Torah study, particularly Talmud, and strengthening their character traits through the study of mussar.
The yeshiva is very community oriented. The yeshiva is responsible for the checking of the five towns eruv on a weekly basis. It is currently remodeling the Hewlett eruv.
The yeshiva was founded in 1985 by its Rosh Kollel, Rav Yitzchak Knobel and its Rosh Yeshiva, Rav Moshe Zev Katzenstein, in the name of Rav Knobel's wife's grandfather, Rav Yaakov Kamenetsky, zt'l. It was originally known as Yeshiva Gedolah Ateres Yaakov. As (bad) luck would have it, R' Yaakov was niftar that year. Rav Knobel is a son in law of R' Binyomin Kamenetsky, and the school was housed in Yeshiva Toras Chaim at its inception.
