Yawkey (MBTA Station)

Yawkey is a station on the MBTA Commuter Rail Framingham/Worcester Line. It is situated near Fenway Park, Boston University and the Longwood Medical and Academic Area in the Fenway-Kenmore section of Boston.

Although originally intended solely for special service to Fenway Park, the station is now serviced by regularly scheduled commuter trains and is used by workers from the Longwood Medical Area and Boston University faculty and staff.

Until construction work began in 2012, the station had a single two-car platform on the inbound track, which was shared by both inbound and outbound trains. Because of the short platform, passengers exiting trains at Yawkey had to be in the front two cars of the train on outbound trains, or the rearmost two cars on inbound trains. The station is being rebuilt with two longer high-level platforms, which will improve accessibility.
