Site of Special Scientific Interest

The variety of available habitats, coupled with the diversity of associated species and its large total area makes Yardley Chase one of the foremost sites for nature conservation in the East Midlands. It comprises a designated site of special scientific interest (SSSI) and is home to the black hair-streak butterfly as well as rare dragonflies and examples of trees dating back to the English Civil War.
