Yandamuri Veerendranath - Popular Culture

Popular Culture

Many of his novels have been made into motion pictures in Telugu. He also directed two motion pictures in Telugu, the first being "Agnipravesam", starring Yamuna, and the second film with Chiranjeevi by name, "Stuvartpuram Police Station". Both the films were based on his own novels but were not well received by audiences. Hence, Veerendranath reverted to writing. Currently, he is writing a weekly serial in Saakshi Sunday magazine "Funday", by name "Dega Rekkala Chappudu".

Famous quotes containing the words popular culture, popular and/or culture:

Like other secret lovers, many speak mockingly about popular culture to conceal their passion for it.
    Mason Cooley (b. 1927)

People try so hard to believe in leaders now, pitifully hard. But we no sooner get a popular reformer or politician or soldier or writer or philosopher—a Roosevelt, a Tolstoy, a Wood, a Shaw, a Nietzsche, than the cross-currents of criticism wash him away. My Lord, no man can stand prominence these days. It’s the surest path to obscurity. People get sick of hearing the same name over and over.
    F. Scott Fitzgerald (1896–1940)

In society, in the best institutions of men, it is easy to detect a certain precocity. When we should still be growing children, we are already little men. Give me a culture which imports much muck from the meadows, and deepens the soil,—not that which trusts to heating manures, and improved implements, and modes of culture only!
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
