Technical Aspects

Xtreme Racing requires an Amiga with an AGA chipset (such as the Amiga 1200, Amiga 4000, or an ECS/OCS Amiga with a Graphics Accelerator Card supporting AGA emulation. As the game also renders a lot of flat plane 3D, a Graphics Accelerator Card significantly boosts performance. As with most PC titles today, the better the memory and graphical capabilities of the computer itself, the smoother the game would run. It is possible to adjust the graphics quality from within the game - users can choose to render the pixels as 4x4, 4x2, 2x2, 2x1, or standard 1x1, as well as toggling various elements such as dust and mountains. Unlike Super Mario Kart, XTR allows you to move the camera position. A vanilla Amiga 1200 (emulated or otherwise) can only run the game in low-resolution modes.

Famous quotes containing the words technical and/or aspects:

When you see something that is technically sweet, you go ahead and do it and you argue about what to do about it only after you have had your technical success. That is the way it was with the atomic bomb.
    J. Robert Oppenheimer (1904–1967)

Grammar is a tricky, inconsistent thing. Being the backbone of speech and writing, it should, we think, be eminently logical, make perfect sense, like the human skeleton. But, of course, the skeleton is arbitrary, too. Why twelve pairs of ribs rather than eleven or thirteen? Why thirty-two teeth? It has something to do with evolution and functionalism—but only sometimes, not always. So there are aspects of grammar that make good, logical sense, and others that do not.
    John Simon (b. 1925)
