Mixed Martial Arts
An expert in Muay Thai, and trained by Cyrille Diabate (also a mixed martial arts fighter and muay thai expert), the majority of Foupa-Pokam's victories have come via knockout, but he has shown considerable improvement in his ground skills in recent fights, four of which he lost by submission and the other one by TKO. A significant part of his career has been spent in British MMA promotion Cage Rage. He rebounded from losses to Paul Daley and Sol Gilbert by going on a five fight winning streak, including impressive victories over Cage Rage veterans Alex Reid and Tom Watson, along with a brutal knockout of Pierre Guillet. This streak however, was broken when he faced Ninja Rua at Cage Rage 24, Ninja pulling off a win via a second round rear naked choke.

Famous quotes containing the words mixed, martial and/or arts:
“Memory is a wonderfully useful tool, and without it judgement does its work with difficulty; it is entirely lacking in me.... Now, the more I distrust my memory, the more confused it becomes. It serves me better by chance encounter; I have to solicit it nonchalantly. For if I press it, it is stunned; and once it has begun to totter, the more I probe it, the more it gets mixed up and embarrassed. It serves me at its own time, not at mine.”
—Michel de Montaigne (15331592)
“As yet her conduct has been great both as a free and as a martial nation. We hope it will continue so, and finally baffle all her enemies, who are in fact the enemies of human nature.”
—James Madison (17511836)
“A man must be clothed with society, or we shall feel a certain bareness and poverty, as of a displaced and unfurnished member. He is to be dressed in arts and institutions, as well as in body garments. Now and then a man exquisitely made can live alone, and must; but coop up most men and you undo them.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
