Wuhan Metro

The Wuhan Metro is an elevated and underground metro system in the city of Wuhan, Hubei, China. The system opened on 28 July 2004, making Wuhan the fifth city in mainland China to have a metro system after Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Guangzhou. This is the first Metro system in China wrongly referred to as a light rail (轻轨, qing gui) system in Chinese terminology.

As of 2011, only the first line, located entirely within the Hankou part of the city, is in operation. Several more lines, which will eventually connect Hanyang and Wuchang as well, are under construction.
